Weight Loss Wednesday & Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day 2012

Well as you probably could have guessed I did not do so well on my diet this weekend. Between, beignets and booze I was way off course in New Orleans when it came to keeping the weight off and unfortunately it showed on the scale yesterday when I found that I had gained 2 pounds. I’m not upset though. By Monday I was right back on track with my diet and yesterday I burned 1,500 more calories than I ate! Woohoo!

Last night my nephews came over to hang out, so instead of going to the gym we all went outside and did calisthenics. I did 160 jumping jacks, 30 pushups, 60 cherry pickers (crunches), and 80 squats. I burned about 200 calories in less than 20 minutes. It was an awesome workout and I feel really sore today. It wasn’t all that hard actually, but I’m definitely feel the results.

Today for lunch I went to Chick-fil-A for appreciate day 2012. There was a line out the door! I was glad to see so many people show up to support an amazing company. Though this blog is about homemaking and not politics, I do think that whether you agree with the owners of Chick-fil-A or not, we need to stand up for free speech in this country. If you have a position, you have a right to share that position without being attacked. I never knew eating a sandwich could become a political statement, but boy was it tasty! Polynesian sauce never tasted so patriotic. And they have the best iced tea I’ve ever tasted in my life… even better than my momma’s (sorry mom). Anyway, back onto the whole weight loss thing- Did you know that if you get the wheat bun with no butter instead of the regular bun you can have a chicken sandwich with 100 fewer calories? Sweet! Also if you get the chicken soup instead of waffle fries it is only 140 calories.

One of my new favourite meals is a mean grean protein smoothie.

  • 2 bananas

1 pot of vanilla yogurt

1 cup of ice

2 scoops of chocolate protein powder

1 empty yogurt pot filled with liquid of your choice (milk, OJ, carrot juice)

2 handfuls of fresh spinach.

Blend. Mmm. It is soo yummy! The spinach just disappears and you can’t even taste it at all, it just tastes like yummy banana goodness, and it really fills me up!
