Weight Loss Wednesday

So I love food. I mean I REALLY LOVE FOOD. I love cooking for Adam and I love eating, at home, at restaurants, under bridges, in a box, in a shoe, at a zoo, I love food.

Unfortunately for my waistline, and my rapidly closing twenties, I do not like exercising, and the same old thing just isn’t working the same old way. When I was 19 I could eat whatever I wanted and never gain a pound, but alas my youth is behind me.

I am now going to publically confess that since I got married in December 2010 I’ve gained 20 pounds. Gasp! I weigh more than I ever have in my life. This has got to end. So I’m going to lose it. Not all of it. But 16 pounds. I was a bit skinny when we got married anyway so I’m giving myself a break. In fact we were both skinny as you can see here in our wedding pictures. Adam is in on this whole weight loss thing too.

So here’s the plan.

I’m going to exercise at least 30 minutes a day.

I’m dropping my calories to 1500 per day.

And I need to burn 500+ more calories a day than I eat.

I can do this! I’ll keep you posted, and I hope you’ll root me on!

For every comment on this post today I’ll do 2 sit-ups. Let’s get in shape! 🙂

I would like two sit ups, please. I would also like permission to touch your rock-hard abs when I am in Florida next. Good luck, beautiful girl!

Noelle, good for you! Just some encouragement that helped me (I recently decided I needed to lose 10 pounds and am only 1.6 pounds away from reaching that goal)…there’s a website called http://www.loseit.com and you can create a free account, log everything you eat, and it also allows you to log your exercise (even housework is on there!). It really helped both Aron and I (he’s lost over 20 pounds!). You can do this!

Thanks cessie! I have this awesome app on my iPhone that does the same thing. It even has restaurant menu items. How did we ever lose weight before technology? Lol. P.s I’m still excited to try your pulled chicken trick, all I need is the mixer. Just sent Adam a picture of a gorgeous turquoise kitchenaid mixer to get me for my birthday!

Throwing down to get two pushups. 😉

There’s nothing wrong with enjoying food–the issue becomes when we use it to satisfy our needs in the wrong way. If you find that you’re eating for reasons other than being hungry, well, you’re like most of us. However, it is possible to get rid of those bad habits and replace them with better onese. Go ahead and watch this video, pre- or post-pushups: http://bit.ly/MgbN9w You may get some good information out of it.

Good luck on the weight loss. You can do this!

I’m with your mom on this one. I started WW 20 weeks ago or so and I’ve lost 20 pounds. And that’s with no exercise…well, I do run after children all day. Best of wishes to you in your weight minimizing efforts!

Oh Noelle, I’m in the same boat. I hate that I’m in my late 20’s and that my waist line is expanding with every cookie I eat. I swear I can see it happening. And, like you, I HATE exercising. Hate it! I do realize that it’s a must if I want to stop gaining weight and not give up cookies. So, cheers! Let’s do this together.

My motivation is Cheese, and Wine, and Bread. I will say this whole 1500 calorie thing really sucks because I have to cut back on all the good stuff. I’m hoping that when I get to my goal weight I’ll be used to exercising and I can slowly start eating things like Coconut Pineapple Ice Cream again! This Calorie Counter app I use is really helpful because I had NO idea how much I was really eating. All those 100 calorie cookies really add up quick. The app keeps me on track, and I know if I want that glass of wine I’m going to have to resist the Oreo. Here’s to resisting Oreos! ::Clink::
